Commissioner’s Office welcomed AI assistant VALDUR to help detect discrimination in job advertisements
The Office of the Gender Equality and Equal Treatment Commissioner has introduced VALDUR, an AI-powered tool designed to support the early detection of potentially discriminatory wording in job advertisements.
Developed in cooperation with software company Lumav Commerce and job portal CV-Online, VALDUR analyses job advertisements using large language models and identifies wording that may indicate discrimination on grounds protected under Estonian equality legislation, such as age, sex, nationality or language.
The tool helps officials efficiently screen large numbers of job advertisements, while every AI-generated finding is reviewed by a human before any action is taken. This human oversight ensures that the final assessment remains accurate and legally sound.
VALDUR also provides suggestions for more inclusive wording and generates statistical reports that help identify trends over time. The system currently analyses job advertisements published on CV-Online in Estonian, English, Russian and Ukrainian.
Watch the video below to learn how VALDUR works and how it supports fairer recruitment practices.
